Per my Name I am a Topps Guy. All this info I see on Donruss makes me think...I can't wait to start entering the 1000s of Donruss I have (from the late 80s).

I think this horse has been beaten, dragged out back and shot and then beaten again......but.....
I was putting in some of these I picked up in an auction and looking at a good number of the Diamond King scans, they look similar!!! I was checking out the borders and the "." and Perez/Steele and found no differences between the "pack" version or the "factory set" version.
Can I suggest that we go back through these (as a group) and determine which should be which and note the differences in the listing so we are aware of tre diffrerence?
In the set "Trivia" there is this line
"The card front border design pattern of the factory set card fronts is oriented differently from that of the regular wax pack cards. No premium or discount exists for either version."
but that doesn't provide any assistance to determine which is which.
I did notice this is primarily with the Diamond Kings, but there are some in the main set that have scans that had me scratching my head.....and I'm usually good at the "Spot the difference" puzzles :):)

If you go back into earlier in the thread this has been mentioned already. Someone needs to head up taking the lead on it. If I can clean my plate right quick I'll do it and in the same style Dan did.

Yep, I read through the thread just to make sure it wasn't already being worked on. I would be more than willing to help out/lead what I could, but I don't have a bulk of these handy to verify nor the access to move/delete scans. I helped out a very miniscule bit with the 89 . no . and * ** checking.
What can we (I) do to start this ball rolling?

Back to this...if I have a card, and I see no difference between pack and factory versions, do I submit an IR to put it in front of some other eyeballs, which would lead to a merge? I know people get mad if you ask questions, because this may have been brought up in some obscure place that I don't see. But I'm asking anyway.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

David, I would say a Mystery Card Forum post might be best. Easier to attach photos than in an IR, anyway.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

There is no mystery about it. The scans are identical

Please post the card number. We could have a faulty scan. That happens too.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant that you had one that you were trying to identify. I shouldn't post forum replies from the bar before Monday Night Football
