Im going through my 1991 Doruss Team set to " right size" it, and noticed EVERY card is listed as a varation. This appears thoughout the checklist.
I need help, please. How can every card be a varation ? To me (a) and ( b) look identical. Could someone PLEASE point out what I am missing ?
I also wish the factory sets were listed on there own. I have no interest in them, and now they are on my want list :(.
Rant over.
Have a good weekend and go Phils :)

The difference is the period (.) after INC.
I agree this set is foxtrot uniform. I always thought the site's rules were, if every card has the same VAR it's a separate parallel set.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Not sure why this is posted in the 2013 Topps Baseball forum,m but here goes...Just looking at card #1 in the set as an example:
The (a) and (b) variants are VERY close. (c) is the factory set version and has a different borde on the front.
The difference between (a) and (b) is literally a period in the copyright line. The (a) version ends with "INC" while the (b) ends with "INC." That period is the variation. As a collector, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to try to accumulate one of each version, but they are variations, and those who collect variations would be interested. How far you dive into the variations or even the inserts/parallels is really a personal choice.
Edit: C2C is right IMO. Since every card has the same variation, it really should be listed as a parallel set much like they did with the "Disclaimer Backs" in the 1990 Topps football set.

The issue with separating them is that those who don't care, but still want to mark the correct version in their collections, would have to look at both checklists to see if they had a complete set. So I see both sides. Whether I understand it or not, some people derive some sort of pleasure from the presence or absence of a period in the copyright lines of their cards.
For the last week, I've been pondering whether or not to suggest to Admin a new category in our collections -- a Do Not Want List. When something like this comes along and you just don't care, you could add cards to your Do Not Want List, and then if you ever use the "Add All Missing Cards To Wantlist" for a player or team, it would not pick these up. I would also use this for printing plates, but that has nothing to do with 1991 Donruss.
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

As the member who did 85% of the work to list this set this way, and have explained it a couple times previously, allow me to explain again.
Admin said that since not ALL cards had all 3 variants to list it this way. Yes, most jabe all 3 but not all.
Second, if you read Note2 of each card, that will fully explain the unique qualities of each card.

Why do some of us CONSTANTLY complain about variations? Last time I checked in it's a big part of card collecting, now than ever before. Same members, same complaint. I don't think variations are going anywhere. So, get used to it !

Probably because they don't relish the idea of having to go back through hundreds or thousands of cards to check for dark logos or tiny dots on the back to get their collections 100% correct.
Or maybe they just don't like them and think this is a good place to air their grievances, like they do with too many parallel sets, too many short prints, no team logos on the uniforms, players in college uniforms, same photo on back, no photo on back, mixes of vertical and horizontal fronts, incomplete stats on back, lifting images off the internet, mass scannings of back images, not including non trading card memorabilia here, people throwing cards away, etc, etc, etc.

I agree 100%. I was just reviewing my checklists and know if someone is trying to trade me I will have to review which version I have. I fully support the new master set tracking but perhaps not when it is every single card as you have noted, so I guess I am a hypocrite. If that shifts over to 1989 Donruss with four versions of each card going through my lists will be another nightmare!
