Only 12 listed here, including printing plates. That's nothing compared to a lot of Panini products. This year's Prizm basketball, for example, had 36.

Yea, but for each parallel there is a parallel, it's like parallel inception.

That's pretty much every Topps/Bowman product. It's endless.

What really get me is: You have a lot of parallel sets PLUS insert sets. Then the Insert sets have parallel sets of them.
I have seen a lot of parallel sets not matching the base set or insert set. They leave cards out (WHY) I have players in some of the parallel set but not other. ( in Blue set but not Gold set)

This is pretty much what keeps me from buying new product. Way too many variations for me.

They are pretty much the name of the game right now. Those and dang short prints. WE are in a "new overproduced era" actually I don't think we ever reallly left the overproduced years, we just shifted from super overproduction of base cards and insert sets and the gimmick of the month to the overproduction of short printed inserts and parallels with overproduction of relics and on-sticker autographs.

This one made me laugh real good!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
