I noticed that too, but didn't want to go back through all of them again. I might at some point, but I think it will keep happening until the regular backs are added in. At least now we have the ability to change the scans so that should help some.

I don't blame you Jupiter. I would add scans myself, but all I have are disclaimer backs. I haven't come across any regular backs in my collection since I've become aware of this variation.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

It might have something to do with Pro Set's premier in 1990 and becoming "The Official NFL Card".
Like Topps and their exclusive MLB license.
Wouldn't it be cool if that info was available right on the overview page?
Wink,wink.

I spotted it on a card I added to my collection a bit ago, and was checking out COMC.com and noticed it again. For those not sure what I'm talking about, look at card #8 and card #9 in the database. #8 is Jerry Rice and look by the Topps logo at the bottom there is some small print. Card #9 doesn't have that same print. It's hard to read on the scans but it says "Topps Football Player cards are not manufactured, sponsored, or authorized by any team or league".
Does anyone know the story about this? Did Topps and NFL have a dispute after they released the set or something?

I feel like I just crawled out from under a rock on this. I was just made aware of these disclaimers and I just went through all my cards from this set. Well over 95% have the disclaimer and I have nearly a complete set plus about 500 doubles. Would the disclaimer be the standard set and the non disclaimer be the parallel? Also the scans for the standard set are mostly with the disclaimer. We can also agree (I hope) that there are no variants on the front, so the scans should be the same for both the front of both sets. Can we copy the scans to the parallel set?
What do others think?
Thanks!
Dan

I almost have my complete Browns sets for both disclaimer, and non-disclaimer backs, and am trying to make sure they are both shown in the proper set. A couple of times I have reported an inaccuracy to get the disclaimer back pulled from the non-disclaimer Browns listings. Soon I will complete them and make sure that the proper one is shown. If you report the disclaimer backs and ask for them to be moved, they will be.
I didn't know about the differences before joining this site last year. I'm not sure why one was picked as the regular and the other as the parallel but I've just followed along as it is shown.

Here's the story from a 1990 news article: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1990-08-17/sports/9003090151_1_topps-cards-football-card-topps-football. The "disclaimer backs" were issued first before their lawsuit against the NFL was settled. Once they won, they reissued the complete set and 1000-Yard set without the disclaimer. They left the fronts unchanged, even though team logos were supposed to be in the green box where the football is.
I've noticed "disclaimer backs" have repopulated the regular backs. My factory set has regular backs (NO disclaimers). So, I have the complete regular backs at my disposal to replace scans.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

This drove me nuts when I found out about 2 different sets.right now I am 3 cards away from no disclaimer and 6 from disclaimer sets. This would complete both sets with variations of hash marks and no hash marks on front. Got plenty to trade

I noticed that at least one Brown has had the disclaimer back entered (again) into the regular set, and I have let Admin know. I have no idea how many other cards have been accidentally/erroneously added.
I really need to get the different Browns versions that I still need just so I can fix their team at least!
