2006 Topps Total Football Forum

I'm usually good at researching but I can't ID the difference. Above is a scan of them side-by-side. And below are photos of the cards side-by-side which show the difference (light reflection). All of my 2006 Topps Total have a matte finish on the backs. Two of them have a semi-glossy, waxy type finish on the back (and front). I also notice they use grey cardstock not white; see photo of the two sandwiched between the others. The fronts are the same green; must be some kind of parallel that's not listed.  Maybe "Retail" or "Hobby" or "WalMart" or who knows.

Hats off to you, David.  Another internet search with this new info and I found another review site (2nd paragraph under Comments) that mentioned two different card stocks.

That would explain why the surface finish on the grey card stock looks so crappy.  So, do we add a "Grey card stock" parallel?

I would say yes to that. 

Note to Admin: two online references were found stating there is a grey cardstock parallel. Apparently Topps ran out of the thin white stock.

I would remove the grey cardstock as a parallel. It was not produced to be a parallel set rather produced due to lack of cardboard stock. They could be listed as errors or variations but not a parallel set because who knows how many or if all 550 cards in the set were produced with the grey cardboard stock.
