I'd have to respectfully disagree, they're not the same, there is a difference. The card number applies to the card. The team applies to the player not the card. Granted it's not always stated on the card, but it's a player's card and players have teams. Would you remove all team designations from all vintage, blank-back, name-only cards? Without a team designation, the database would be useless to team collectors.
