Wantlist Top Ten

by BucCollector - 17 cards (Last updated on Sep. 12, 2017)

1. 1910 Tip Top Bread D322 #25 Forbes Field

Need this to complete my collection of Pirates' ballparks. There's a nice specimen on eBay now at $1,800.

2. 1948 Bowman #38 Buddy Jeannette

This HOF rookie would be the centerpiece of my Basketball Players from Pittsburgh collection, supplanting my 1957-58 Maurice Stokes. (Still need the Maravich rookie.)

Front Placeholder

3. 1952 National Tea Labels #19 Danny Murtaugh

One of my PCs. Have never seen this card.

4. 1970 Dayton Daily News M137 #148 Manny Sanguillen

Another of my PCs. I've got a scan but it's not good enough for TCDB - the scan is fine, but the condition of the card is poor.

Front Placeholder

5. 1971-72 Milwaukee Bucks #9 Barry Nelson

For my Basketball Players from Pittsburgh collection. Nelson's only card.

Front Placeholder

6. 1973 J.P. Kelly Bank Wichita Aeros #NNO Matt Alexander

For my Alexander PC. I've never seen this card. The 1973 Team Issue I have is sponsored by Kansas State Bank. Maybe this is a variation?

7. 1973 Sherbrooke Pirates Team Issue #NNO Tony Armas

Most of the Pirates of the 1970s didn't have minor league cards. Here's one. I have some of the cards from this set, but not Armas.

Front Placeholder

8. 1974 Seattle Rainiers #NNO Rick Kuhn

This is the same Rick Kuhn who played basketball at Boston College and was involved in the infamous point-shaving scandal there. Sadly, he attended one of the high schools in my school district growing up.

Front Placeholder

9. 1975 SSPC 18 #8 Sam McDowell

The only card of Sudden Sam in a Pirates uniform.

Front Placeholder

10. 1991 Courtside - Autographs #9 Myron Brown

For my Pittsburgh Basketball collection, Autographs subset.

Would be interested in a backstory of why you want these particular cards. Would they finish sets? Are they tough cards of players you collect?

I'm with switzr1. That's an unusual list. Must go look at your collection now. Curiosity piqued.

Very cool. Nice to know why people collect what they collect. Sounds like you have a lot of fun with the hobby!

One of my teachers in high school was Rick Kuhn's older brother. I remember that situation well. All came to be with a few high school buddies of Rick who were "Made" if you know what I mean.
