NHL One-Game Wonders

Retired hockey players who appeared in only one NHL game and had an NHL card issued during their career.

Not uncommon nowadays, since every "rookie" player seems to get at least a few hundred cards. I always get a chuckle when these cards don them as some type of great prospect.

Equipment Manager for the Carolina Hurricanes. He was pressed into duty as an emergency backup goaltender for the Hurricanes due to Eddie Lack's illness. While serving as backup, Alves engaged in his regular duties as equipment manager, such as sharpening skates and taping sticks. With the Hurricanes losing 3–1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Lightning having iced the puck at the end of the game, Hurricanes coach Bill Peters put Alves in the net for the final seconds of the match. With 7.6 seconds of action, he faced no shots in his debut.

Great list! I have a couple of these cards, but didn't know they played in only one game. I might have to steal your idea for the NBA at some point.

I never understood why so many NHL players only end up playing one game in their debut years. Pretty much all of these players are irrelevant as far as "top prospects" go, and the real top prospects dont get rookie cards in the regular sets. (I'm not paying $200 just for a chance of getting an Auston, McDavid, or Partick)
