Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: WWE 1993-1996, 2004-by stevejrogers - 210 cards (Last updated on Apr 8, 2024) |
The first full class was in 1994, second in 1995 and the third in 1996. The first two were held prior to the King of The Ring PPV event, and the 1996 one was held prior to Survivor Series.
With the coming of the Attitude Era, coupled with many deserving performers still very much active and in other companies, or having issues with the WWF, the Hall was shuttered until 2004.
Then, with the 20th annual WrestleMania, it became a part of the WrestleMania weekend festivities as an arena event, complete with fans attending (the first three were mostly invitee only and done in hotel business meeting/banquet hall type settings). And it has been a WM Weekend fixture ever since.
It has recently been announced that, FINALLY (yes read that as The Rock would say it) plans are in motion for a permanent home for The Hall near the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Cool list. I'm surprised by some of these who don't have cards. And a couple who have plenty of cards, but no scans.
As you said in my thread about Pro Wrestling Aliases, I agree many are due to being around too early for any sort of wrestling card boom, but I imagine another reason, especially for the Celebrities and Warrior Award Winners (certainly they'd be in those Road to WM sets that I pulled a few cards from), is that since they aren't employees from the company, they'd need to give rights to have their likenesses used. I mean I'm using a Classic brand WWF card for Jesse Ventura (it is a classic looking one though)! Every scanned Ventura card after that is from political/topical sets. He's a notorious tough guy to deal with rights to image licence wise since his run ended! So that probably is a big of an issue, especially in cases of wrestlers are no longer with the company, or are in good standing with the company. Like I'm using a 1999 card for Jeff Jarrett (though I'll be swaping it out for the one that will be in next year's Road to WM set obviously) who has a bunch in the waning WCW years sets and TNA sets but nothing in WWF/WWE since 1999, until going forward now.
Lord Alfred Hayes (better than nothing, I guess)
Yeah I saw that, I think I’ll wait until a solo one. Its my reasoning for not using the scanned card linked to Stu Hart.
I guess the ones that jumped out at me have cards, but no scans. I had Hackenschmidt and Thomas in mind, whom I was not 100% certain about. Add those to some others I had spotted like Inoki and Jimmy Valiant, who I knew both had several cards that weren't scanned. |
