Thanks to the NJ Guv restrictions, I can now play an extra in a remake of 'Slap Shot'. That was just a movie, but here are few genuine shaggy examples during my youth.

Long hair is a problem against an unscrupulous opponent. See the Dec. 1974 video on YouTube - Bob Plager hit Sanderson with four sucker punches, then grabbed his hair so the Turk couldn't fight back.

Detroit's knucklehead coach Ned Harkness sent the Iron Man to the barber shop repeatedly, then stupidly traded him to the Blues during the 1970-71 season for Red Berenson who was eight years older.

Yeah, probably not a great idea to have long hair in a sport that almost inevitably will have knockdown-dragout fighting. Seen too many girl fights to know they'll go for the locks.

My kind of list, though...this from someone who sported an afro in college and now lives with shaven head, sort of. I do the sides, and God did the top.
