The regular 1991 NFL Upper Deck set is littered with wrong-back scans on this site. This is too much for one person to deal with but also needs clarification. To my knowledge, the 1991 NFL UD holograms only had the words "Upper Deck" printed in the hologram and the 1992 UD holograms had the "Upper Deck Diamond Logo" in them. I have no idea what the 1990 hologram would be for NFL cards. There was no UD football set in 1990 and the MLB 1990 UD cards had the words "Upper Deck" with a baseball in the background inside the hologram. 1991 MLB sets had just the words in the hologram and the shape was changed from a circle to a home-plate shape. The NFL sets for at least the first 3 years stayed a football shape. Upper Deck did later change the hologram to be both the words and the logo in all sports, depending on how you held or turned the card. What is the 1990 version for NFL and who can help me fix these inaccurate scans? I am losing my mind trying to do this or even keep up with which versions I have!

To add more complication to this, only the first 500 cards are listed for the 1990 and 1992 hologram backs, but I have card #584 with a 1992 hologram on the back!
ALL of my 1993 UD football cards have the dual logo hologram (Upper Deck words AND the UD logo).

SO NOBODY HAS ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT THIS? I keep getting wrong-back scans moved to the correct CL and in some cases, the scan of the exact same card is added almost instantly. Admin has added the missing cards from the "parallels" checklists, but it doesn't do any good if people just keep adding the wrong scans everywhere across this set. I can't even add correct scans for the real base-set cards before someone replaces them with the same wrong scans I had previously requested to be moved.

Is the same person continually adding the wrong scans? Could you PM them and ask them to stop? I don't know anything about these variations, and don't know how there could be a 1990 version if they didn't have FB in 1990. Sounds very frustrating from your end.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

It is not the same person adding the same scans. It's different people adding their own scans when the original scan gets removed. I did PM one well-known member about his error in posting the wrong scan. We were both polite and he acknowledged his mistake. I really just want to figure this out. It has really locked me into a stationary position with adding the last few hundred cards I have in my collection that aren't listed here yet. Plus, I will have to go back through my traders and make sure I have the correct cards listed, based purely on a little hologram on the back of the card!
I was notified by Admin over the weekend that card #'s 501 and higher ONLY had the 1992 hologram on the backs. So at least that explains why those cards aren't listed for the "back-parallels". That info does help a bunch.

The 1991 baseball sets are riddled with these issues. You definitely see the holograms from other sports/years on those cards sometimes. Here's an interesting blog post about it:
https://junkwaxgems.wordpress.com/2009/12/15/1991-upper-deck-baseball-hologram-variations-and-more/
I imagine that the 1990 versions of the holograms may exist on the 1991 NFL set for the same reason they exist in baseball. If I had to guess, the holograms were made out of a large sticker sheet where the little diamond or football shapes were cut out and affixed to the cards somewhere in the process. They probably didn't always have the right sheets available, re-used old ones, etc.
As far as getting the right images in the right place, I'm afraid that's always be going to be a bit problematic considering how similar the 1990 and 1991 holograms are and how you have to hold each card up to a direct light source to truly know what you're looking at.

I think it would be helpful if someone made something like the above image only with the NFL set to document what variations to look for.

Wow, I though that the 1990 Topps No Disclaimer backs were bad. I assumed that when you spoke of these, the whole hologram was shaped differently, not the design within the hologram. Now I see from that link what you're actually talking about! I'm glad I never took an interest in micro-managing my collection where variations are concerned. Not a criticism of those who do. Just a criticism of my eyesight.

Thanks for the link! It wasn't helpful with the NFL cards, but it reminded me to check my MLB cards. That made it VERY helpful since someone wants to trade with me and is ONLY interested in 1991 UD MLB cards. After going through all my cards from that set (to add them on here), I found a 1990 hologram-back of McGwire that needed a scan. I alos found a Bo Jackson 1992 hologram-back that wasn't even in the CL. I added it and the scans, as well as the Big Mac scans.

UPDATE (9/01/17):
ADMIN has finally done a bunch of work on the base set and "parallels". He/she/they moved ALL of the scans for 1991 Upper Deck football into the correct CL's. The regular 1991 UD cards with the 1991 holograms on the back now need a bunch of scans! All of the 1992 Hologram-backs have been moved to that CL and the CL was extended to include the whole set. I have already added scans of many of my 1991 UD cards to where they actually belong. I still have found NO EVIDENCE of a 1990 hologram-back version for the NFL cards. I'm guessing that CL was only added here because of the MLB and NHL sets from 1991 UD with the holograms from 1990 on the back.
I am just happy to see (and make) some progress with this entire set on TCDB! Thanks to all who replied so far and a HUGE THANKS to Admin for listening to me and doing the work that would have taken me forever to change!!!

I just added a bunch of scans not knowing that there were different holograms on the backs of the cards. Aargh!!!! I'm going back through now to verify and correct the scans. The difference is not easy to catch. I'm debating if I should go through my collection and change how I've listed them. I would hate to send someone the wrong card just because I'm too lazy to go through my collection. I just went through this drill with 1990 Topps and the disclaimer backs and one asterisk vs two asterisk debacle.
I'll fix any scans I screwed up.
