10,000 People By Sport

by Billy Kingsley - 74 cards (Last updated on Jan 21, 2017)

32. 2010 Press Pass Legends #39 Brad Daugherty

Multi is where I list people who have cards in more than one sport. There are 11 of them listed as well. For example, Brad Daugherty here is known as one of the best centers in Cleveland Cavalier history, he's also owned a NASCAR team since 1990, and he was a broadcaster when ESPN had the TV rights to the sport. I have, according to the Database, 80 cards of him, 79 NBA and 1 NASCAR.

33. 1983 Topps Greatest Olympians #92 Cassius Clay

Boxing, like soccer, is one of the only Olympic sports I just cannot get into. Muhammad Ali is the Greatest and he is one of 9 boxers to appear in my collection, 7 of them from Olympic related sets.

34. 1991 Impel U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame #80 William Simon

I have 8 people categorized as simply "Olympics". not athletes but people who helped shape the Olympic movement.

35. 2014 Topps U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team & Hopefuls #31 Jazmine Fenlator

Bobsled is one of my favorite Winter Olympic events, but only has 7 people in my collection.

36. 2012 Panini Americana Heroes & Legends #81 Dick Fosbury

I combine high jumpers and long jumpers into one category just called "Jumpers", also coming out to 7 people. A girl who went to my high school won a medal in the 2012 Olympics in high jumping but did not get any cards. If she did, you can bet she would have been the example chosen for this sport! I can't remember her name though, and she is more than a decade younger than me so I never met her, of course. I think she was only 17 or 18 at the time.

37. 1997 Sports Illustrated for Kids #577 Lisa Fernandez

Softball also has 7 people in my collection. My cousin was good enough she was scouted by the Olympic team but chose not to pursue it.

38. 2015 Topps Allen & Ginter #93 Kelia Moniz

Surfing also has 7 people in my collection. If this is the uniform for the sport, I've got to start watching it!

39. 2016 Topps U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Hopefuls #17 Holley Mangold

Weightlifting also has 7 people in my collection. It's not one of my favorite Olympic events but I do watch it when it's on.

40. 2016 Topps U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Hopefuls #10 Matt Stutzman

Archery has quietly become one of my favorite Olympic events, which has a lot to do with the suction cup archery available at the Fort William Henry Museum in Lake George, NY. The US team does not dominate the archery events in the Olympics and only puts 5 athletes into my collection.

41. 2012 Topps U.S. Olympic Team & Hopefuls #32 Mariel Zagunis

Fencing is an interesting sport. 2016's Rio Olympics was the first time I actually watched it, I thought it was kind of cool how their helmets lit up. I couldn't figure out the rules but I will watch it again in 2020.
Fencing only has 5 people in my collection.

Billy, I just noticed your sample card #58 for Lacrosse, Paula Heuser, is actually a field hockey card.
