How do so many people find trades with the OP here? I looked and he has roughly 100 cards available for trade?
I do get the overall idea in here. 10 positive feedbacks from the same trade partner in the same day looks suspicious. There are varying thoughts on the idea of trading a single card for a positive comment seeming "fishy".
My take is that I feel I am building a pretty good trade report for myself by doing things right. I don't trade a card for feedback. I have put in my time to earn what reputation I have at this point. My opinion on the OP here is that I would have concern in dealing with him due to past issues reported and techniques I wouldn't use to increase my positive ratings. I wouldn't be opposed to trading with him but it would be a proceed with caution situation. If he builds his reputation back up by doing things properly going forward that would be great!
I'm assuming most are talking about the circumstances and not the member here since from what I can tell he has roughly 100 cards to trade.

Hi kcjays,
Just to be clear, I never said he sent 10 cards in 10 separate envelopes. In fact, it was two envelopes, one with six cards, the other with four. I’m very sorry to hear about your experience with this trader. On those rare occasions where he wasn’t able to deliver the card promised, he has always promptly offered me a comparable replacement card.
To BSwagger, the vast majority of the transactions I’ve done with this trader have been as a result of match alerts received.
To everyone who has posted to this thread, I’m still relatively new to this site (I joined in March) and I apologize if I’m not aware of what the proper feedback protocol is. From what I’ve read in the FAQs section though, there is none nor can a member earn points by giving or getting feedback. If I’m mistaken, please enlighten me. I love this site and most everybody I’ve dealt with so far has been great. Please rest assured that I would never try to “game” the system with “suspicious” “shenanigans”. At the end of the day, all we have as buyers, sellers and traders is our reputation and I value mine too much to risk it over a 5-cent card.

This came from your post, Hooked: " He recently shipped 10 such cards (10 separate transactions), "

I follow what Hooked is saying. If I'm understanding right, instead of doing everything in one transaction, they broke it up into 10 separate ones (I'm assuming for 10 different sets, perhaps?). Thus, as he was marking cards received and completing the transactions, they left positive feedback for every transaction. Shawn just happened to send six cards in one envelope, and four in another.
I see both ways - why one would do this, and I can also certainly see why it would be suspicious. I was suspicious of it at first too, but after reading these posts, I think that post Commish mentioned was simply worded poorly.
Personally, I don't agree with trading cards for feedback. It just doesn't seem quite right to me, but hey, to each their own.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Thanks Jasongerman9. I’ll try to be more precise in my future wording. I think what may have thrown people off was that in these transactions, the “payment” WAS the feedback. Thus, if it didn’t leave feedback for each transaction I would not be holding up my end of the deal and would not be able to mark the transaction completed.

Hooked, I realize you're new here. Welcome!
As for Shawn, he's gone through at least 4 different user names over the years. See http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Forum.cfm/Page/I/ID/0/?MODE=VIEW&ThreadID=8666&PageIndex=1
Megan's PC, sportcardcollector98, and wweluver87 were previous user names that someone 'forgot' the password for.
I know he's tried to improve, but there's always an excuse. I got burned, as did many others. Please beware of anyone trading a card for feedback as 'payment'.
Feedback is a 2-way street. It should go for both buyer and seller. I notice he didn't leave you ANY feedback and as you said, you're still trying to build your reputation.
Good luck here and I hope you're able to fill all your wantlists with this site, I know I've certainly been able to knock my list WAY down. The more people we get on this site listing the collections, wantlists and trade lists, the more wantlists will be filled.
-Dan

On each member's profile page, there is a feedback link with the feedback percentage. What Shawn effectively did was get Mark G. to artificially infalte that number by asking for positive feedbacks for each card (not even each envelope). Shawn had received 3 negative feedbacks on this ID (after abandoning 3 other IDs because of a history on those of not holding up his end of a trade - also known as ripping people off). So that 3 out of 25 left him with an 88% positive feedback - which frankly is pretty weak. But instead of allowing it to grow naturally, he has essentially "bought" extra positive feedbacks.
I personally find this behavior (on both sides) to be dishonest.

And he's back to the shenanigans...
I've politely declined every single offer to send me a single card that he's ever proposed. And I'll continue to do so. I will never trust this person and will never give him my address. He continues to try and I continue to decline. I've stayed quiet about his attempts for most of the year b/c he seemed like he was trying to do good. But he keeps bragging about his trade number (invisible to everyone but him) and the feedback never even comes close to the number he's been bragging about. Sending someone a card for free is NOT a trade or transaction. Begging for feedback for that freebie is just shameless!!!
"Hooked...", don't trade feedback for freebies! That's not how it works. You trade cards for cards or money. Feedback is not a bargaining chip to get the card.

NO PWE's EVER!!! PLZ PM me 1st before sending any offer. ONLY selling cards as of March 2024. No trades or purchases right now. _______________________________________________________________________ Largest total PC card collections by Team, then Athlete (as of 3/22/24): STL Cardinals (MLB) - 8810; Carolina Panthers - 2888; GB Packers - 1790+ cards Mark Martin (NASCAR) - 2038 cards; Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR) - 1875 cards; Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) - 1594; Ricky Rudd (NASCAR) - 839; Ozzie Smith (MLB) - 707
