I finished moving the last of my cards out of Main Collection today. When I first saw mention of the idea in the forums, it seemed odd, but now I see it as the perfect place for trades received and new purchases, and it's also where I keep my wantlist. Now I look forward to the day I can rearrange the order of my collections. They follow a hierarchy, but they don't display in that order, yet. And the idea of putting traders in a different room has literally changed my life. Even though I am still entering my cards, this is the first time I've seen my collection as "manageable" since I moved into my house. Thanks Bruno, and everyone else who has thrown out some good ideas that have helped me. I know there are several of you, but I didn't jump on board until I saw the pictures of Bruno's collection.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Bru, I just made a trade with wbaker01 for cards that came from the various Want Lists associated with the specific collections, and after him marking it as "Package Sent" the cards show In-Transit within the collection they were in, so barring a glitch in the Matrix my All-Stars should be in the All-Stars, Inserts, & Small Sets Collection, my PCers in my Baseball - MLB PC Collection, and so on. Thus, if it works out as I planned, I should only have to make a few moves to appease my OCD.
I may have found a cure for my OCD, though! My extra moves are tied to me being able to use the Collection Gallery feature to organize my physical collection, whether in binders, boxes, or displays. The various lists TCDB provides are helpful, but my proposal to Admin for a Nine-Card Layout Option on Galleries (currently the second highest rated proposal) was made because of my reliance on it to organize my collection. I use Craig Biggio as my example because he fits into all my collections in some years. BUT, if the gallery feature would work with All Collections (that's accessible at the bottom of everyone's list of collections) then I wouldn't have to overlap individual cards. I've been in communication with Admin about what I perceived as glitches, and he's fixed them, but I've run into another one today and will go through the process to see if this is indeed a malfunction or if it was not meant to be used when in the All Collections page. If it's not supposed to work that way, then I'm stuck in overlapping my collection which is what I had planned to do anyway, but anything to ease the number of clicks I have to do would be welcomed.

Sorry to say Joshua (but maybe I will be proven wrong), when you receive the cards in trade, they will automatically end up in your Main Collection. But it is not difficult to transfer them into the collections you wish. Just takes a bit of time and awareness to fill them in the collections you want them in.
I just got a very small trade in that had cards from collections I have already set up in other collections than the Main. I had to transfer all of them. The want is gone from those collections but the new Have ends up in the Main.

Here's hoping. It's still an improved process for me. I've been adding to my Want Lists these past two days and with this new plan it's not as haphazard as it was and I may end up still missing cards from my collection, but it will be because I've not been able to trade for them, not because I can't find them or they're not on my Want List.
Many times I go through another's collection to see if maybe I've missed something or if I'm unaware of a card and I'll run into a set where I simply didn't have a card I needed on my Want List. It was usually from my Astros PC or team sets.
Anyway, it's all good and better.

Fully agree with you Joshua. I am still a ways from where switzr is as my Main Collection still has plenty of sets to be transferred to their proper collections. I am also going away on Tuesday for 10 days so it will take a bit longer than the end of February to get there.
David, you used your Main Collection for your want list; I will be interested to see how well that works for you. My only concern here is that when you are looking to add to your Want List, you will need to crosscheck your collection to see if you have a particular card already. I guess depending on how large a collection you have, it may work out all right. It is only by trying things out that we can see (and share) how things worked out.

This has been a great post for anyone reorganizing. Everybody has such valuable input threads. Bruno and Commish seem to have this collection thing down pat. My reorganizing is going exceptionally well, feeling very good about the digital and physical collection. However, the Multi Collection approach scares me a bit, with the massive amount of cards, spanning 4 rooms, I'm not sure it would work. I would need a real good blueprint to try it. My collections also span Most Sports, Non-Sports, Stickers, ERRs/VAR, player and teams. I think continuing my reorganize plan needs completion before even attempting a Multi-Collection Format.
Congrats to all you guys that have managed to do it, I'm sure by reading the threads, you are pleased with the redo and it's working for you. ~Bob~

My baseball collection has now officially ALL been moved into their appropriate collections! All that's left is to move what hits after current trades are marked received and the system puts them into my Main Collection for dispersal to their correct homes.
Now it's on to the Want Lists!

Bru, you were proven right! Despite my Want Lists being associated with various collections, once the trade was completed everything was transferred to the Main Collection then requiring me to move them to their appropriate collection.
I've submitted a proposal as a new feature to fix this for those of us who use multiple collections.
