On your point 2. I think most collectors see the term junk era or junk wax as a reference to a point in time and not negatively. Maybe investors feel differently. I personally love the junk era because I can still buy tons of cards of players I followed closely for very little investment. Junk era is actually viewed quite affectionately by many. As evidence I am a member of The Original Junk Era Collector's Group on Facebook as well as All Junk Era Sports Cards 1980-2000 on Facebook. The groups themselves feel to heavily like groups for investors to sell their stuff but my point is that the junk era is viewed quite positively by many in the collecting community.
I just wanted to share that since I refererred to the cards as junk era in my post but I wanted to share that I used that term but many of those cards acquired will also have a happy home in my collection and I will be more than willing to use duplicates from those to help fill the needs others may have.
