Spaz,
I'll look closer at the cards sometime today and either send you a pic (I'm not at home so I have no access to scan) or at least a detailed description of the Brock cards.
Lew Burdette, at least the two cards I now own, may have played prior to me being interested in baseball, or sports for that matter. I just recall 1966 as the year I began watching sports and started collecting cards, and with my dad being a Giants fan I grew to love Mays, McCovey, Bonds, Marichal, Perry, et al. The only Cards player I knew back then was probably Gibson and Brock, later of course, Curt Flood for his suit that opened the door for free agency. Oh, and some kid named Carlton, which by the way his '69 #255 was also found in the lot purchase, along with Yaz #130.
Anyway, I've logged the 3-4 '58s and '60s, and all the '74s-'76s and will get around to inputting the rest of the box including the '87 O-Pee-Chee.

I'd definitely be interested in that 1960 #70 - Lew Burdette. I know who he is too!

Mike,
I'm still inventorying the vintage cards. I thought I was finished last night, but I found some more this morning. I am considering keeping the Burdette only because I found two of his cards, the other being a '58, I believe. But I'll let you know. I'm not closing the door, just give me some time. Lord knows I collect enough players to already keep me busy.

Awesome find! The best part of the hobby is the unexpected. Plunking down $25 and not expecting much then coming up with some hidden beauties! Good for you, bro!

- My Definition of "Complete Set": Pretty much everything that fits in a binder, from the box the cards came in to the very last insert and parallel. 1 of 1 AUs and Sketch cards are just bonus to me.

So you gonna hook me up with this dealer of yours. We are now stuck with only one shop in the entire city of Houston. I'm really sad that we lost Greg at Odyssey. I had started visiting there every couple of weeks, many times just to talk sports.

You'll have to come to NJ, JM4, I've never gotten anything close to this in our part of the country. Greg will be the last we see down there, I think. All we've got around us is comic book stores now. There is one across from Katy Taylor High School that may start selling sports cards again, but currently aren't.

Was this from a local dealer or a seller online? Nice score either way.

Local dealer where I've bought boxes before, but nothing EVER like this. I've found several RCs before, but nothing of this magniftude. I've found a Jeter RC (with a crease), Jack Lambert RC, Alan Page RC (that I just traded away), Most of the time the boxes are heavy with 80s-90s cards. The first I bought there gave me a sizeable '75 and '82 Topps baseball as trade bait, and it worked! The box previous to this jewel basically gave me trade inventory, although I did purchase a small binder with about 50 cards for an additional $25 which included the Ozzie RC.
By the way, I've just entered the '85 Topps Traded cards, an almost complete set because I took out the 7-10 cards for my PC. They are in NM condition and came still in the box, unwrapped, but not handled very much. They're on the trade list now.
