I got a box of 81 Fleer baseball cards. Opened and couple packs and the gum seems to have welded itself to the front the cards. Any tips on removing it without destroying the cards? Also is it ok to give your 4 year old 37 year old gum? Asking for a friend.

I thought fleet had stickers instead of gum, maybe you are speaking of wax stain since wax used to seal packs?
I have heard of panty hose removing some stains but have never tried it

I think Fleer and Donruss had gum in 1981, till Topps raised a stink.
and God knows what kind of dingy, musty warehouse that box has been sitting in all those years. I wouldn't feed my dog that gum, much less a kid.

Sure, he can eat the gum. Builds mouth strength. And immunities.
I’ve tried pantyhose. Both got the gum stain off and made my legs feel smooth and silky. Try it!

I tried 2 year old Topps gum and it was terrible.
Yes, Fleer and Donruss both had gum, but Topps forced them to not include gum after that first year.
I've heard of using pantyhose on wax, but not gum. From what I have seen, gum is very damaging to cards if it has been exposed to any moisture (even mid-range humidity).

I thought 81 Donruss had some sort of cookie in it.

Collecting glad you survived. That could have been an explosive situation. Let me clarify this is not a stain this is a slab of “gum” firmly affixed to the front of the card. I’m thinking about trying my 4” angle grinder, we shall see how steady my hand is. If anyone’s in the market for a poor condition 81 Fleet Davy Lopes hit me up I may soon have one to trade.
