I have finally finished moving all of my cards for trade into the one room. Yes, about 400K cards. For those of you buying collections to increase the trade bait available, be careful not to overload or you will need a room like this to dedicate just to trading. Those 13 brown boxes in the first pic all hold about 13,000 cards, each one from the same set, all commons. The brown space in the center of all of the cards in the other two pictures is a large fold-down table. Great for sorting cards and merging collections.
I still have to set up a computer in the room so I don't need to go back and forth but at least the distance is now about half of what it used to be. As well, yes much of this is the "junk" era but it is surprising how oftern someone asks for a card(s) from the ones I have. Today I pulled 3 1991 OPC Premier cards for someone. Recently, it was a couple of 1987 Topps cards. Only about 20 more of each up for trade so grab them quick. Seriously though, I often find it frustrating when I am unable to complete a set because I am missing one or two commons. Through this site, I have been able to help some collectors out. In over 200 trades, I have now sent out over 15,000 cards and received over 11,000 in return (assuming all those promised in return get here).
My personal set and player collections are not in these pictures.

If I could get that organized, I wouldn't find my collection so overwhelming. I'm sure a lot of hard work went into that. Well done.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Yes Dave, it was a lot of work when I started organizing them all by company, year, set and #. Fortunately once I had it done, I managed to keep it organized the same way. This morning I had to pull 66 cards from about 10 different sets. Took me about 15 minutes, most of that time going back and forth to the room from my computer.
Now the only times I get a bit frustrated is when I am adding cards to my own collection, finding the sets that are only just started, and when I buy another large lot of cards and they are not merged into this pile. It causes me to have to look in two places instead of automatically going to the one box.
Many have talked about trying to be organized. I posted this much to show how it can be if one gives it the effort to do so. The space just makes it easier to do.

For me, space isn't the issue. Time is the issue, and the will. Thanks for the inspiration though. I will refer back to this from time to time, and remind myself that I can end up with a good result like you did.

Well done for the amount you have, I think I am up to just over 50,000 cards here and betwwen the office and the spare bedroom I got space to burn. However if I had 400,000 probably not. LOL I really like the fold down table cabinet, impressive. Will add that to my mental rolodex along with the dewey decimal card holders. When I win the lotto I can make my own kick ass card cave!! =)

Luv it ! My eventual goal ! I've worked on all 4 of my rooms, a little bit at a time and when I have time. The day I can pull a members order in 15 minutes, I'll be rolling around the floor giddy as a clam. Do clams get giddy??lol. Well, anyway, I must keep your pics close at hand, WHEN I get done.....mine are going up !
[The networked computers in my setup are a must. I would never be able to function. A laptop or desktop in each room with a dedicated wireless printer. Multiple scanners, AIOs, ADF complete the setup. And everything linked together.]
Super job ~BOB~

Bru! I'm thrice envious! First for the organization that I hope to one day attain. Secondly for the product that I'm always trying to trade for found in those boxes. And finally, for the perseverance it took to get to that point in setting up the room. Nice job!

Extremely impressive! Congratulations on getting that huge amount organized.
Yes, I'm constrained by both space and time. I really can only do small amounts at a time. (I recently pulled out 2 large boxes of mnor league sets, but without the space to actually take them all out to see what I have, I can't do anything with them.) And that's just 2 boxes (18"x14"x8" each - just a little bit larger than the size of a case of paper). I have several more of other products I just can't move around and sort through. And with only having really about 2 hours per night (at most), it could take me a week to get through a box.
