Would this be an issue they were all cards you wanted? It's just part of the hobby. I don't have an issue with it too often, so I'm guessing it was just bad luck.

Wow! That makes me finding every NFL punter in two packs of '81 Topps easier to swallow, although at least they got dupes of stars.

I bought a hobby box and a blaster box of opening day within the last week or so. I ended up with about 80 base dupes and 3 or 4 insert dupes. I learned to accept it over time. It gives me something to trade/donate. Now that I only lack a few cards from the base set, I'll stop buying packs and look for the outliers in trades and at my LCS. I have learned not to get too high or low over the years on collation or distribution of auto's or mem's. 

I buy packs/boxes of what I think I'll like with no expectations. If it gets to the point where I am spinning my wheels, I stop and wait a few years until everything is essentially out there and for sale/trade at a lower price. I am currently doing that with 2011 topps with most of the inserts. I love the diamond anniversary and the cogniac parrallels.

Rage was a bit of an overstatement. But it’s annoying. I don’t think it’s just bad luck given what I’ve seen online. One guy bought 2 hangers and they were 90% the same. I know it’s been part of the hobby for years but I would think given technology and the price they charge for their cards they could make it a thing of the past if they wanted. 

Don't get me started on current collation issues for ANY brand in ANY sport. I'll only say this: In 2018 alone, I bought 2 blasters of Panini's 2018 Donruss Racing cards at Target and months apart. The 2nd blaster was 80% duplicates (including inserts) and those were the only packages of anything that I bought of that product. Then I bought 2 hobby boxes of their 2018 Victory Lane Racing release at the same time from the same wholesaler. About a third of the base cards were the same ones in both boxes. I know this is a Panini example instead of Topps, but they are pretty much the same story. Base card and regular insert collation sucks these days!
