Yayyyyy! I finally pulled the trigger and now am the proud owner of one card from the 1800s.
It's an 1887 Old Judge N172 Dell Darling, of the Chicago White Stockings (i.e., Cubs, of course).
Graded Authentic, but I don't think it's been trimmed or rebacked or anything. It was clearly glued to something at some point and has a significant stain. But who cares!!!! It's frickin' 132 years old!
Mr. Darling was quite mediocre but may have been involved in a series of train robberies at the end of his career!
Not as expensive as I thought it'd be, although, for the first time ever, I had to pay sales tax on eBay.
And I appear to the be only person on this site who owns this card!
I generally hate exclamation points, so you can tell I'm excited!
Here are the fuzzy images, through the plastic. It's the best we can get for now, unless we pull from another site. https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/62055/cid/3848503/1887-90-Old-Judge-(N172)-128-Dell-Darling
Brag over.
