On June 4 I was informed by my employer that they were terminating my employment after 8 1/2 years. It was shocking. I am the bread winner in my family so it meant going from a nice salary to collecting unemployment and having to start making COBRA payments to keep insurance for my family. We live in a rural area so there aren't many jobs in my field that pay what I was making within 50 miles. I was worried. Extremely worried. I have a daughter who will be a senior this year so the thought of relocating wasn't an option I wanted to look at.
I thought I might take the time off to organize my collection and do some trading and have some fun. I thought I would have time to finish up some projects around the home or go fishing with my Dad. I did someof these things but the worry of what my future would hold made it difficult to enjoy anything. I hit the market hard and applied for everything within 75 miles of my home.
I am happy to report that I accepted a position today and start on July 22. I am very excited and feel I will actually enjoy this smaller company much more than my past position. I have been here reading the forum every day and contributing a bit but most of my time had been spent applying and interviewing. I just wanted to share my bad news and now good news. It may take a bit until I focus much on my collecting but hopefully life becomes normal again soon.
As much as this has been a difficult time foir me I know others have it worse than me. Count your blessings and show compassion to those around you who are struggling.
