In the last two weeks, I've had 4 envelopes of cards arrive with postage due. All were ebay purchases. One was over $3. He refunded me quickly. In every case they used an oversized photo mailer or bubble mailer and used the minimum 55 cents or whatever it is now. Going forward, no more buying cards on ebay. I'll still probably buy other things like books as gifts. It's just very frustrating. Going to the post office in a small town, especially when you're sick, isn't always a simple task. Our PO closes for an hour at lunchtime. I'll stick with buying from trusted members here, occasional COMC for odd stuff, and Cardbarrel.com which I really enjoy using for baseball. Has anyone else here noticed postage due becoming more frequent?

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

With a 100+ Card purchases, just this spring, only had 1 arrive postage due....
With around 700 purchases over 25 years, that was the only postage due I had....
As mentioned in another thread, I've been selling gaming stuff, I take everything to the
Post Office to get my postage...
I imagine that many sellers, especially with cards, get in over their head with the numbers
sold etc.... So online with USPS or Ebay postage is much easier... Just no my style....

I go right to the post office every time I sell something . Never had a problem yet. jogawr_96. Free shipping in Canada, usually $2 to the USA.

Could you just not buy from those dealers that refuse to use a scale, and still enjoy the cards from others who do?

I had one several months back which was the first postage due envelope I ever received. The seller knew (he was sick and couldn't get to the post office for more stamps) and sent extra cards to compensate. Fair enough. But since then, I've had 3 more. All were sent in 93 cent Ebay standard envelopes. The last one I took back to the post office and asked why it was postage due. They said because it was not bendable it was considered a parcel and not a letter. Sure enough, with all three, each had a single card in a toploader. And with all of them, I bit the bullet and begrudgingly paid the extra postage.

Your post office has it wrong then. Top loaders are okay (recommended) with eBay standard envelope.

It seems to be confined to one post office here locally. Their machines must be extra sensitive. If it gets routed through another, it doesn't appear to be an issue. Basically it is a crapshoot any time I order something that uses a standard envelope.

Sorry about that, David, especially with your health situation.
I've never received a postage due and I have bought from Ebay quite a bit recently, and certainly hope I've not sent anything that ended up that way for my trade partner (I've not been informed if that happened). I would tend to lean toward what DocOso says though I would believe it'd be more on the clerk than the machines.
