I've PMed Admin. They will be sending a sympathy card on our (the site) behalf.
-------------------------------
Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Rest In Peace, sir. I never had the pleasure of interacting with Mr. Waddell either, but he sounds like a great family man.

This has been a busy weekend for me, so I'm just catching up on the forums. I never dealt with Steven Waddell either, but I offer my sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
It's also very heartwarming to see that Admin will be sending a card on our behalf.
And Chuck - are you sure you weren't ever a detective? Great job of finding that out for us.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 3/4/2024). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned on (details are in my profile).

I hadn't spoke to him but the hobby is a pretty tight knit group and losing one of our own is a somber occasion.

It's very sad to hear "one of our own" has passed. It's been a rough week for me as someone I knew very well passed away. It never gets easier.
I can't think of any other members on here who might have passed, but maybe if they are, maybe Admin could do some sort of memorial for their profile page, and during the year end awards have a way to honor them.

Great idea Jupiter, I was thinking the same. If we can memoralize the people on cards, we can memoralize the people who make the site. =)

Godspeed, Steven. Best wishes to the Waddell family at this difficult time.
I don't want hijack Mr. Waddell's thread, but in response to Jupiter's post, I have two memorials to highlight:
As for other members who have passed, we did lose ClintsCards last year. Clint wasn't very active here, but I have been good friends with him for many years at various Racing-centric forums. He passed suddenly on October 31, 2017 of heart failure.
Another long time Racing collecting friend, who I didn't even realize until today that he had been a menber here, passed the year before. We lost autocritic on September 17, 2016 after an extended decline in health.

RIP, Mr. Waddell. Appropriately enough, he is now buried in the same cemetery as former Philadelphia Philly John Titus, who was featured on a number of trading cards. Perhaps even some that our colleague may have collected.
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
