Why do I even open these threads?
I would only add that just because something is on the site, doesn't mean it belongs here. Admin doesn't sit at his keyboard 24/7, continually hitting the Refresh key, to study ever set that gets added here. With the sheer volume here, I would speculate that even Admin himself has never seen the majority of the checklists on the site. Remember, he is a man with a life outside the site. Maybe has a family. Maybe a full time job. Maybe takes vacations. I could come on here at 4 AM, sneak in some checklist of aerosol deodorant cans, name it carefully to avoid attention, and nobody might notice it for four years. That doesn't mean its approved by Admin and can be used as a precedent to add other toiletries.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

As we discuss pins. I found these in an album of Yankees and Mets. No markings @ 1979-80
Do they look familar? Are they listed on TCDB? Note: there are numbers on them. Any help?

No markings? I can see "...Inc., Paterson NJ © 19..." So what does it say? They look homemade. I had a pin back button making kit when I was a kid.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

uStill seems to be a gray area to me. Maybe a member can explain this "product item" and card packaged together. If I understood it - If you buy the PRODUCT for the product item the card shouldn't be listable, but if the card is listable and you buy the product, then the card is listable and the product item is not.
Ex. I buy a starting lineup figure [not listable] because I like the player, technically the card is not listable. BUT if I buy it for the card then the card is listable but the figure is never listable.
How many people are buying underwear unless they need underwear, then cards aren't listable? But I want MJ cards so I buy out Walmart's underwear supply to get the cards......?????
I'm just really confused how this works? and therefore I truly believe we need clarity.
Also, How can MLB pins be legit 1 year, but not another? lotsa ambiquity?

The questionable card spaces have now been removed. I didn't think the pins should have been part of the database, but as my goal is to get Herschel's page with as many different images as possible, the fact that I had the pins in my possession, led to the inquiry about the validity of the space. As Dan(Vroomed) told me, I'd probably have been better off just submitting an IR, and then if the space was legitimate, I would have been so informed. Sorry for the Pandora's box.

There's no intrinsic value in cardboard, but there's a lot of value in doing something you enjoy!

Just to clear up some misconceptions stated in this post:
Ex. I buy a starting lineup figure [not listable] because I like the player, technically the card is not listable. BUT if I buy it for the card then the card is listable but the figure is never listable.
Wrong - This has nothing to do with why you buy something. A TRADING CARD is listable on here provided it's a card. That ends the discussion of the validity at this point - it's a card, it belongs here. Therefore, the cards that come with starting lineups or diecast vehicles are valid here. They are cards, plain and simple.
How many people are buying underwear unless they need underwear, then cards aren't listable? But I want MJ cards so I buy out Walmart's underwear supply to get the cards......?????
Again, we can list the CARDS that come with the underwear, however the underwear themselves are not listable. (I never dreamed I'd EVER have to type THAT here.) They are cards, they are listable.
It's VERY clear:
If it's a CARD, it gets listed here. It simply the other stuff out there that isn't cards that goes through further scrutiny as to whether it belongs here. I'm starting to wonder if you're "confused" for the sake of dragging threads out to suit your needs.

OK, don't get your "Hanes in a bunch" heehee. BUT this is very notable: If it's a CARD, it gets listed here.

Yes - an actual - trading card - would get listed - on the - TRADING CARD DATABASE.
Groundbreaking news, I know.
