I found 3 variations on the back of 1984 Topps #316 Ali Haj-Sheikh.
Before the copyright symbol on the bottom line, I found:
C*
D*
C* D*
I know the letter * corresponded to the sheets that were printed. 132 cards per sheet. So you don't get double prints, the sets were multiples of 132 -- 132, 264, 396, 528, 660, 792
Did Topps do multiple runs of the sheets & change the letter * designations. Were there in fact 4 sheets (A*, B*, C*, D*) and thus double prints of some players?
Have I really found 2 variations of the card and thus should enter them in the database?
I think I should. All different. I doubt 1 is more valuable than others, but ya never know...

Don't forget the game inserts in addition to the 396 base cards. Good chance there were DPs. Unless they printed all the inserts on one sheet. Who knows how they layed out the sheets.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this one. Ugh.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Do you mean -- this is stupid? Or do mean, "great, now I have look at all these cards again?"

It means, I don't get the point.

Topps printed the same card with 3 different texts on the backs? I think that is the definition of variations. Nice find! Good luck getting past the TCDB police!

I may be wrong about this, but I thought I'd read somewhere that the letters corresponded only to the location of where the cards were printed, sort of like the US mint. (Unless that was a figment of my imagination.)

I just did a quick look through my '84 collection / doubles.
Looks like anything printed on "*C" or "*D" has all three "variations". I didn't find a single example of any "variations" from the "A" or "B" sheets.
Curious....but great googly moogly let's not do this again.

Fortunately or unfortunately, you found something, "more variations". With all these recent variation sets being found and listed, I would think they should be included. Otherwise, here we go again...How can we list 1 similar variation and not another. Take Donruss baseball, we have been adding variant sets from '87 and '88 and '91, more to come, meanwhile I'm working on the variants for the '89 and '90 sets. I've learned the hard way, whether you like or unlike what TCDB lists, your stuck if ADMIN, so OK.
The members must OK too.
