Today, here in Qunite West, Ontario, Canada, we broke a world record with 3942 people standing in an area the shape of a maple leaf. Guiness had reps there to confirm the record. Though the majority of participants were Canadians, we had people from Texas, Florida, New Zealand, Australia and Germany who came to participate in this honourable event. Though the record was the focus of the effort, it was also a fund raiser for our Soldier On program which supports veterans who sacrificed part of their lives and health for our freedom.
If you look closely, I am at the far left base of the maple leaf about three up from the point, right on the edge wearing the red t-shirt and plastic poncho. Thanks to all.

It's always great to hear about soldiers being honored for their sacrifice. I tried looking for you in the picture, but my eyes fail me.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

There were over 5000 people registered but as usual, some who committed early on decided they had better things to do. I figured that would be about 10% of registered participants but over 20% was the case.
The old record was something like 1200 people somewhere in British Columbia.

That’s very nice to see. I’ve known several Canadian soldiers, support from the Canadian government and general public is lacking, to say the least.

Support from the public used to be really bad but since the war on terror began and because of the loses of life in Afghanistan, the public has been very supportive. Meanwhile, when the Liberals are in power in our government, the military is used like a pawn and given no support.

I served with some really good Canadian soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Outstanding soldiers and people.
This is a fantastic showing to honor them!

Were there any other TCDB members there?

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
