I sure wish things like that were legal here in NC. My favorites are the mortars. I love those things! NC only allows "firecrackers". Anything that lifts off the ground or goes BOOM are illegal here. If it sparks or bangs/snaps, it's okay. I did get to watch the city fireworks at the park from work tonight. They get to use the good stuff.

Ahh, that brings back memories. A lot better memories than the time the high school kids had a bottle rocket war which caused the town flower shop to catch fire and burn to the ground. I guess that's what dumb kids do in small towns.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster. |

Happy Birthday USA! Me and Mrs Gunny are gonna cut grass and paint the garage doors and then relax with some grilled hot dogs, sauteed zucchini, fresh corn on the cobb and she will make her delicious egg drop soup.

No, sir! I've never been a big fan of fireworks, especially after that. I lived almost across the street from it though and woke up at 4 AM to see the street blocked off with firetrucks trying to save it.
As for the M80's, well that was a few years later at a friend of my dad's. He lived out of town near KC and had a nice display of fireworks, but occasionally they'd through some M80's in a bucket of water and light it and toss it in the air. Not safe at all, but it was pretty fun. Doubt I'd ever want to do it again, but it sure was a blast to do once.
