Happy Birthday. I have no idea what I was doing when you were born. I also have no idea what I was doing on my 30th birthday back in 2008.

I was also 9 years old in December 1987. I think that was the year my parents split up and I was living at the beach with my granddad that Christmas.

Happy Birthday. 30 huh? I didn't do anything special for my 30th. I forget the last time I did do something special for my birthday.

You don't have to be OLD (or drunk, etc.) to not remember a birthday! I don't really remember most of my adult birthdays b/c I try to make them as chill and relaxing as possible. It's usually the weekend before or after that day that people want to celebrate with you. The first one I remember was my 11th and it's mostly b/c I still have pictures. I got my 1st CD player that year and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cake. I can't remember what I did the several birthdays besides go to work like it was a normal day. After 35, you just don't care to take the day off from work anymore. I certainly will in 2018 though! My 40th falls on a Saturday and I am definitely taking that day off. But I don't know what I'll do yet!

I always take my birthday off, Spaz! This year I took three days off and went to Chicago for two of them. By myself. Away from everybody I know. It was great!!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

That does sound awesome! I used to request to be off work for my birthday every year. But I didn't go anywhere. I usually just sat home and relaxed! Then a few years ago, it fell in the middle of the week. I decided that I'd rather have the money for working instead of losing money while I did nothing important. The last time I requested a day off to do something fun turned into a disaster (kinda). I took a day off a few years ago to go to a Deftones concert in Charlotte (on a Thursday, which is also my payday). It should've been great, but we never made it to the show. Between thunderstorms that shut down the concert early and a bunch of stoners and drunks that I was relying on to get me there, it just fell apart and I STILL haven't seen Deftones in concert! I'll drive myself the next time they get anywhere close to me!!!
I'd love to get back to Chicago again to explore some more, but I am so much farther from there than you are. Of all the cities outside of NC that I've visited, Chicago moved to the top of the "Return to" list in 2005 and has only been bumped by Gulfport/Biloxi, MS in 2006 and STL in 2013. Cooperstown, NY is just below those but that is an itty-bitty town vs. some major cities and good vacay areas. I don't even put the beaches or mountains of NC and SC above my Top-4 of STL, MS coast, CHI-town, and MLB HOF. For places inside the US that I haven't been to yet, the top ones remain as Grand Canyon, AZ and Crater Lake, OR. I'd really like to get anywhere west of the Mississippi River past St. Louis some day. That's as far west as I have been so far!

Happy Birthday, Shawn! I'm blessed to say I have children your age. I have no idea what I was doing on my 30th, but it could have included a Neil Young or Neil Diamond concert, or an exciting Astros game - they made the playoffs that year losing to the Mets. For sure I hadn't returned to card collecting - that happened about two years later in 1988.

I celebrated my first of six Christmas' in Hawaii during December 1987. I had just turned 10, and moved to Hawaii 2 months prior in October. I also started collecting baseball cards during that time period. The world was much simpler for me back then. Good times.
