i know the idea behind these is nothing new, but isn't there a conflict of interest if you're submitting your new set to a grading service before they have ever been released, and guaranteeing a 9.5 or 10 in every box? Seems to me a deal would have to be in place beforehand, guaranteeing the grader will give enough high grades, to make such a release possible.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

David, I see this more as a way to cater to high end collecting, with the focus being valuation rather than collection. This will simply be a product I will avoid.

I agree that it may be a conflict of interst, but the grading companies have shown it is all about the money for them. When a company can guarantee a 9 or 10 graded card in every box, it is a way to ensure "value" to the box buyers.

It's put out by the new "Leaf", therefore it's already a product to avoid.

As Billy mentioned, card submitters can usually indicate a minimum grade they want. If the card doesn't make it, it's either returned unslabbed or just slabbed "authentic". I've only ever submitted a couple of times as part of a group sub, and this was the case at the time. Not sure it still is.
I'm not familiar with Leaf Valiant, but I guess the company could submit their cards off the presses, then just pack out those that don't meet the minimum.

Well, in that case, I'm not turning over a new leaf.

Very odd with their year labeling. Marking a product 2018 while releaseing it the folllowing March of 2019.

They were held up by the graders.
