Happy Birthday

by jupiterhill - 176 cards (Last updated on Oct 1, 2020)

61. 1991 All World CFL #69 Glenn Kulka

Born: 3/3/1964

Reason Chosen: Not often I get Canadian Football cards, but I also chose it because he also had a career in wrestling after his football career ended.

62. 1995 Finest #244 Shane Conlan

Born: 3/4/1964

Reason Chosen: I had an extra and its nice to have a shiny card on the list especially with the protector still on it.

63. 2008 PopCardz #3 Eva Mendes

Born: 3/5/1974 (no year listed on card)

Reason Chosen: I liked the PopCardz set and had an extra one. Also wanted to include more women on this list.

64. 1987 Donruss #156 Joe Carter

Born: 3/7/1960

Reason Chosen: It's Joe Carter! Not sure I need another reason, but also liked that it was an older card and one of him while not on the Blue Jays like most of the ones I have of him are.

65. 2009-10 Upper Deck Victory #95 Erik Ersberg

Born: 3/8/1982

Reason Chosen: Hockey isn't represented too much on the list and he was born a couple weeks after I was, and that seemed like reason enough.

66. 2012 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions #42 Clint Dempsey

Born: 3/9/1983

Reason Chosen: Goodwin cards aren't shown a lot on the list, and Dempsey seemed like a good name to include.

67. 1993 Wild Card #189 Rod Woodson

Born: 3/10/1965

Reason Chosen: Hall of Famer. Also one of the earliest cards I have of him.

68. 2008 PopCardz #16 Anton Yelchin

Born: 3/11/1989

Reason Chosen: Popcards double I didn't need. I don't remember ever seeing anything he was in, but one of the youngest people on this list. Sadly also one of the few deceased members on this list.

69. 1992 Donruss #559 Darryl Strawberry

Born: 3/12/1962

Reason Chosen: Because despite never seeing him play, he knew he was better in right field than Homer Simpson. Can't believe the Mets traded him.

70. 2012 Upper Deck MLS #168 Blas Perez

Born: 3/13/1981

Reason Chosen: No real reason, but didn't want the list to be largely Americans, so since Blas was born in Panama I thought I'd include him.

I really liked this list!  My favorites parts are the write up on the Mike Marshall card.  I have a Luke Walker from 1969 that is folded and wrinkled and trimmed because I kept it in my back pocket for good luck when I was a kid.  I wouldn't trade that card for anything now.  Also the Eddie Kennison write up brought back memories of some of the Pittsburgh Pirates boxes I bought off ebay, now I have very, very, very many Steve Cookes.

Good Job!

Thank you.  I really need to scan the Marshall card so it will show up on here.  I miss the days where buying a box off ebay was cheap enough to enjoy.  Now shipping just about kills any deal.
