People I Have Met

31. 1975 Topps #104 Bill Madlock

Still at the MLA show I bought tickets for 3 other people. The first to attend was Bill Madlock and I got this card signed. After getting the Madlock auto I walked around the show and noticed that only the back half of the hall was being used. This is different than when the SCC is there, the SCC uses the entire place. I was flummoxed as to why this was the case.

32. 1979 Topps #509 Mario Mendoza

Auto number 3 at the MLA show was the dear Mario Mendoza. I had to get this 1979 Pirates card signed. Cool thing about Mario was that he was donating a good portion of his proceeds to a children's charity in Mexico.

33. 1996-97 Score #140 Scott Young

Auto number 4 at the MLA show was this card for Scott Young. Most people had Penguins stuff for him to sign but I switched it up and went with the Avalanche side of things. So that wrapped the MLA show. I exited and walked around the front of the building. Nobody was allowed to park there so I had to find out why. I investigated and found that the front half of the building was hosting a polka festival starting later that same day. I was glad to leave before all that noise started.

34. 1974 Topps #137 Al Bumbry

Once again for the 2019 Main Line Autograph Pittsburgh Show I was lucky enough to be one of the first 250 attendees which got me a free auto. This year it was Al Bumbry. He signed a nice 8X10 which included 1973 AL ROY.

35. 2007-08 In The Game Between the Pipes #97 Michel Dion

After getting the Al Bumbry auto Michel Dion was next on my list. I was super excited to meet him since he was my favorite goalie in my younger years. I told him he was my favorite and he thanked me as he signed this card. Interestingly enough this card shows him when he was with Cincinnati Stingers wearing number 30. He signed this card "Michel Dion #29" his old Penguins number which is kinda cool I think.

36. 1991-92 Stadium Club #364 Frank Pietrangelo

Another auto from the 2019 MLA Pittsburgh Show. I almost went with getting my old goalie stick signed but instead got this card signed.

37. 2010-11 Donruss #138 Maxime Talbot

Last auto at the 2019 show was this card. One thing I can say about Max is that he is great with kids. He joked around with the families in front of me which gave the kids huge smiles. I told him that made my day.

Cool list! My list of people met only has about 12 people on it, unfortunately. If you are so inclined I'd like to see captions on where/how you met them.

I'm impressed with your memory.   I sure don't remember people I've met.

Very interesting and cool list.  Kudos, also, to the memory bank.  Made me try to remember some.  The only common on my list is Bill Madlock.  He was the speaker and "headliner" at a sports banquet around 1980 or so. Got about 7 or 8 cards signed.  Chuck Tanner was there.  I believe the year before that one was with Bob Feller, got his auto on a program from that one. Later on while I was a student at Pitt, I went to a morning skate at the old Igloo prior to a game with the Flyers and met Eric Lindros and got a few signatures there.  Latest was on Easter some years back, got to meet Jameis Winston prior to an FSU/Wake Forest baseball game.  Very nice and polite young man.  Greeted a huge line of folks prior to the game right up to national anthem as he was not going to pitch that day.

As a native Pittsburgher and Pit sports fan for life, the Dave Brown story is classic!
