User Lists

A list of pitchers who Cal Ripken hit a home run off of during the 1982 season. I tried to use 1982 Topps cards when available. If a pitcher was hit off of more than once, I used a different card for each HR as you can only list a card once in the list.

Not sure how long this list will get or if I will actually try to continue with it. Anyway it is a list of cards I got that are not normally the type of thing I would add to my PC but for some reason I got it. There may be Non-Sport cards here with subjects I don't normally do. The cards or in a few cases the complete sets on this list I added to my PC for some reason or another.

The final NFL Draft pick is called "Mr. Irrelevant"

Paul Salata founded "Mr. Irrelevant" and "Irrelevant Week" in 1976. During the summer after the draft, the new Mr. Irrelevant and his family are invited to spend a week in Newport Beach, California, where they enjoy a golf tournament, a regatta, a roast giving advice to the new draftee, and a ceremony awarding him the Lowsman Trophy. The trophy mimics the Heisman, but depicts a player fumbling a football.

Cards I am looking for to complete certain player collections, or portions of certain player collections. Trading is turned off but if you have any of these that you're willing to part with in a small PWE deal, please reach out and I'll see if I can find something on your wantlist.

While my entire wantlist is large (I haven't even tried cataloging my Reds collection yet), I find it easier to focus on taking these collections in chunks at a time. For example, it's much easier and practical for me to dedicate my search to four or five specific Shawn Green or Buster Posey cards rather than add the thousands of missing ones to my wantlist. If I find something outside of this list I'll still pick it up, but these are the ones I'd really like to grab.

This collection started out as checklist cards with Ted's name included. They didn't seem worth including in my main collection, but they were easy enough to acquire for the most part. I then expanded it to include cards that may include Ted or his car in the picture, but not clearly visible enough to pick out for sure.

Error cards featuring the wrong player will be the most obvious, but I'm also looking in the background. Major releases only. Going to exclude team cards that feature the whole team e.g. 1979-80 Topps/OPC hockey team cards for example. I'll need help for the other sports.

Is it possible to create every year of Topps using only non-base Ripken cards? (Not quite yet...)

Note: For this exercise, SP Legends cards don't count as base cards. My list, my rules!

I have a goal of seeing every MLB stadium. Having seen a couple in my childhood, I started in earnest in 2009, since then have crossed 26 of 30 off the list. Some stadiums are definitely better than others, but each trip has unique memories. I tried to jot down something memorable for each trip. Looking forward to new stadiums in Vegas and hopefully Tampa so I can add to this list.

Since I am primarily a baseball collector, I thought I would show off my non-baseball favorite cards.

1/23/24: Helton, Beltre, and Mauer. No Wagner. Probably next year. Not thrilled with the cards I'm adding, though.

This is my collection of the last Topps card of every Hall of Fame player who has a regular (base set) Topps card. I couldn't afford all the rookie cards and if I got into other companies, it'd be too intimidating. But I love this collection all the same. With this method, there are admittedly a lot of players in unfamiliar jerseys, but the cards also have more complete career stats than rookie cards, which is more relevant to HOF status. They are in order of year of induction. Enjoy.

Seem to be sure-fire bets for being inducted in future.

I don't fly all that often, but when I do I sometimes see a recognizable face.

As some may already know, I collect a rookie card for each NFL player to make a Pro Bowl (1970 - present). Unfortunately, some Pro Bowl players never had a rookie card printed for them. This list is for them.

My collecting goal is 1 card per unique player/team combination. This list documents new additions to that collection.

The dates listed on the entries reflect the date I added the card to my TCDB collection, not the date I acquired it.

Got my MBA from here. No major leaguers can say the same.

My alma mater, Brandeis, has produced pretty much no baseball players... but lots of scientists. Shocking.

My hometown of Peabody, MA, has produced very few major leaguers... but quite a few minor leaguers.

It's apparent card companies don't have access to dictionaries. Their staffs must be filled with 5th Grade dropouts. The incorrect use of terms runs rampant in the trading card world.
For now the list is one example of a word's incorrect use.

Basketball sets I have that need 5 or less to finish.

Certified autographs, preferably of them on the Raptors where available, of people that were part of the 2019 Championship team.

Cards from the box set are filling the gap until an autograph is added or becomes available.
