I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I noticed today this doc/movie is now on Netflix. I took it in. As some others have said in this thread - it was not quite what I was expecting for some reason even though I came in with the knowledge of what others said here! I enjoyed some of the baseball discussions. The other part, I can't imagine being in that situation or what to say. Not sure what else I can say there.

I watched about 15 minutes of the movie on Netflicks. The badest thing about the movie is I wasted those 15 minutes. And I'll never get them back ! The guy would have saved himself a lot of time and agrivation if he had done a little reseach before going to a show and trying to sell the box of late 80's and early 90's cards. The guy made himself look like a fool.

I watched it and it was okay. Any movie about baseball cards is okay by me. Any other recommendations?

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

Those 15 minutes were misleading as the film was more about reconciliation with card collecting simply background noise.

I might have watched more than 15 minutes, up to where they went to a sports card show and the wife ran over his box of treasured cards. Then I guess it was his brother was trying to be and ahole and bring up nasty stuff about their father or some weird stuff.

I watched this the other night. Aside from the end which bothered me and his dad being the way he was, it was extrememly informative about the "fall" of the hobby and the reemergence after.
Worth a watch.

I finally decided to take the time to watch this movie last night. I was able to keep interested due to the baseball card angle but it wasn't terribly entertaining. It reinforces the notion that within the hobby I enjoy just as in real life too many things are driven by greed. I also have to say Jose Canseco still has some huge arms. As a collector who stopped collecting during the junk era I still say the junk era is a great thing for me. I can go back and fill gaps I have for a small amount of money.
My take away: Collect what makes you happy to collect. If you spend money to invest there is a good chance you will walk away disappointed.

I watched it the other night too. It was ok I thought the main guy was kind of annoying. I feel like we need to get that foul ball guy on our site though. That was an impressive collection! I showed that part to my wife and I think she had a mild panic attack looking at his house(she hates clutter)
