My Favorite 75 Cubs Whom I've Seen Play by Vvvergeer (Last updated on Aug 9, 2019)

August 9, 2019: Some moves up and down with most of 2019 done. Yu Darvish and Cole Hamels could still get in here. Maybe, someday, Craig Kimbrel...

I've been a Cubs fan all my life. The conscious-of-baseball part of my life starts in about 1970. I've watched some pretty bad teams, but there were always players -- some great, some just fun -- whom I loved to watch. This is my attempt to compile my favorite 75, roughly in order of preference. (It started as 50, expanded to 91, then I cut it back to 75 -- so many players I remember). As you can see, it's not just about stats. There are some odd choices in here. Some, I just liked their grit. Some just had great nicknames. The deeper you get into the list, the more they blend together in order of preference. And I'm probably forgetting quite a few....

The representative cards are the the oldest card I have of each player as a Cub. (Had to pick SOME criteria).
Hope you enjoy it. Feel free to remind me of players I probably loved but left off the list.

Is it a Jersey, Shirt or a Sweater That I Have. by Gunny (Last updated on Aug 7, 2019)

Since I am somewhat of a jersey/shirt/sweater collector I figured why not make a list showcasing some of the models I own.

As always I shall try to remember as many details as possible. Also I shall be adding more as I find cards that show examples of the items I have collected.

Hockey cards produced by major companies during the "Boom" years when "almost" everything was over produced, yet today, are highly sought after (i.e., valuable) or almost never appear on the secondary market. This list may include variants (ERR/COR), but only those confirmed to exist.

☆*★*☆*★*☆*★*☆ MY LIFE IN CARDS ☆*★*☆*★*☆*★*☆

Stadiums/Arenas I've visited, bands/groups/performers I've seen live, people I've met, places I've visited, sights I've seen, etc.

It's pretty cool how we can chronicle our lives with cards. Compiling this list I've been amazed at some of the cards I've come across. I'm inspired to get these cards and place them in a binder entitled "My Life in Cards".

List is inspired by some other members' lists; such as switzr1's I Visited Their Grave, Gunny's Places I Have Been, rmpaq5's Stadiums I've Been To and Famous Landmarks I've Been To, Billy Kingsley's People I Have Met and others I can't recall. When I come across their lists again I'll give them their due.

People I've Met by rmpaq5 (Last updated on Aug 4, 2019)

People With Cards I have Actually Met In Person...Not Counting Autograph Sessions...that would be cheating :). Hope to add to this list as I hopefully meet more, or my memory kicks in. You will no doubt see the pattern of people connected to Windsor, Ontario, or Toronto (I live in Georgetown, Ontario now very close to Toronto after growing up in Windsor). Newest additions George Bell and Lloyd Moseby. I will add these people and list them alphabetical.

Kirk And Friends by captkirk42 (Last updated on Aug 2, 2019)

Here is a list of players with my name or some variant of it: Kirk, Curt, Curtis... It is an ongoing list of cards I have of players with the first name (or last name) Kirk. Note this is not the complete list. I still have many cards that I have not checked off/added to my collection here that I have in my physical collection. Case in point I have several Curt Schilling cards not just the one on this list.

A Guy Named Andersen (Anderson) by captkirk42 (Last updated on Aug 2, 2019)

As my last name is Andersen I like to collect cards of players with the same or similar last name. Ditto with guys named Kirk (or Curt). Unfortunately for me this is an ongoing list. These are a few of the cards I have of guys with the last name (or first name) Andersen, Anderson.

Why Did I Collect This? by captkirk42 (Last updated on Aug 2, 2019)

Not sure how long this list will get or if I will actually try to continue with it. Anyway it is a list of cards I got that are not normally the type of thing I would add to my PC but for some reason I got it. There may be Non-Sport cards here with subjects I don't normally do. The cards or in a few cases the complete sets on this list I added to my PC for some reason or another.

Bakers Dozen of Fave Topps Card Designs by captkirk42 (Last updated on Aug 2, 2019)

This is a list of 13 my favorite Topps Baseball card designs, mostly vintage. It is only Topps because there are way too many other designs it is hard to keep up with what is what and I would have to do decade lists. Not quite sure what order to put them in that is also another problem I have with lists. I'm pretty sure I still need to complete all these sets.

WCW Hall of Fame by stevejrogers (Last updated on Jul 27, 2019)

Started by the company in 1993, and was held annually at the Slamboree PPV in May, and the event was given the "Legends Reunion" brand name. Along with the in-ring ceremony, there were other dignitaries brought out to help honor the inductees.

Dropped after 1995, presumably to concentrate solely on the current product, which was white hot in the midst of the nWo angle. It was never resurrected. It would appear that the WCW Hall was attempting to be more "all-inclusive" to the sport than the WWF's, which was created at the same time, and concentrated on the inductee's time with the promotion. Only a few inductees, like Dusty Rhodes, Ole Anderson, and Wahoo McDaniel had made HOF caliber impacts (both in and outside of the ring) on the territory (Pre-WCW it was Jim Crockett Promotions/Mid-Atlantic under the NWA brand)/promotion through the years.

As far as I know, the honoree plaques were on display at the CNN/Turner headquarters in Atlanta. It is not clear what became of them since the WWF purchase of WCW, and all of its assets in 2001.

WWE Hall of Fame by stevejrogers (Last updated on Jul 27, 2019)

Starting with inducting the recently passed Andre The Giant as the first member in 1993, the WWE, then WWF, created a Hall of Fame.

The first full class was in 1994, second in 1995 and the third in 1996. The first two were held prior to the King of The Ring PPV event, and the 1996 one was held prior to Survivor Series.

With the coming of the Attitude Era, coupled with many deserving performers still very much active and in other companies, or having issues with the WWF, the Hall was shuttered until 2004, when on the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania, it became a part of the WrestleMania weekend festivity as an arena event, complete with fans attending (the first three were mostly invitee only and done in hotel business meeting/banquet hall type settings). And it has been a WM Weekend fixture ever since.

It has recently been announced that, FINALLY (yes read that as The Rock would say it) plans are in motion for a permanent home for The Hall near the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Potential OC cut #RefsInTheBack by RefsInTheBack (Last updated on Jul 27, 2019)

Creating a list of cards that could potentially fit my #RefsInTheBack PC if I came across a card that was cut off-center and shows enough of the referee's face that I could possibly identify them.

If you have a card on this list that fits the "OC #RefsInTheBack" description, let's make a trade!

vrooomed's Most Wanted Phillies cards by vrooomed (Last updated on Jul 25, 2019)

As a collector of Phillies cards, I enjoy a collection starting with some 1951 Bowman to present day. I decided to go after all Topps cards during that time frame, as well as the Bowman cards up to 1955. This list is starting with the 2 I'm missing from the 1960s that is keeping me from being complete from 1955 to present day and I'm adding to the list going from 1954 back.

Japanese MLB player Japanese/American rookie cards by Slug03 (Last updated on Jul 22, 2019)

All 59 Japanese MLB players rookie cards, from both America and Japan.

Many players have many, many rookies from the same year and other brands not listed here. My order of preference for choosing rookie cards were as follows:

Japanese rookies:
Year, BBM preferred (except for Murakami). Lowest card number chosen if BBM issued multiple cards of the player in the same set.
American rookies:
Topps base preferred, then bowman, then other major releases (Upper Deck, Donruss, Fleer/Fleer Tradition), then more minor sets released by the main companies (Topps Finest, Bowman's Best), and if no major releases exist for a player, then the earliest minor league card.
