Set: 1993 Triple Play (Rate)

Card: #158 Jack McDowell

“ I was one of the many uneducated kids who often got a brand that if it didn't say topps, fleer, donruss, upperdeck, or score then there was a good chance I thought the card was crap and only flies on the wall know what I did with those in my youth...probably ate one for attention... ” -SaveDaKid

“ I sort of like this design. I can't help but wonder was that pitch a strike, HR, hit? ” -koloth42

“ The White Sox road grays still look clean and new even though they've been wearing them untouched (mind the change of sleeve patch) for 20 years. ” -jlaz10

“ The BBWA doesn't know if this is worthy of being the Random Card of the Day. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ No missing this guy's name! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I don't like black borders but not a bad card for a lower priced set. ” -NJDevils

Set: 1993 Topps (Rate)

Card: #58 Jose Melendez

“ This card gives you that lonely feeling. He seems like he is out there by himself. ” -biggiofn7

“ I guess I'll just throw this ball here ” -Young Kilo

“ This is the peak of your 4 year career... ” -SaveDaKid

“ Did he even suit up in spring training for the Padres that year? I thought he was traded in the off-season to the Red Sox. ” -UNC_Samurai

Set: 1990 Score Rookie & Traded (Rate)

Card: #54T Renaldo Turnbull

“ This is a photo of biceps and gold pants. The rest is incidental. ” -Luckynumber78

“ I have a hard time believing this is real, because most of that set was nothing but annoying subsets. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Not much to complain about here. Great action shot, big image, border and name aren't distracting. Looks like a set I would chase.. ” -wamk

“ I've always like the 90s Saints unis with the bright gold pants and Louisiana/Fleur-de-Lis logo on sleeve ” -jlaz10

“ Is the black line at the bottom part of the card or a poorly cropped scan? Not that it really matters, I'm just curious. That's just the way I think, LOL. ” -Billy Kingsley

Set: 1960 Leaf (Rate)

Card: #37 Duke Snider

“ Man, Snider looks like someone who knows he's good looking -- or just knows he's good! ” -Luckynumber78

“ This card was originally supposed to feature Roy Campanella. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ It kind of looks like a modern picture. Just put black and white over it and...BOOM! you got yourself a 1960 card! ” -eyoung11

“ Great card. I remember when these came out. The black and white photo was unique to a kid who was used to color cards. ” -NJDevils

“ Another classic cap logo is the Dodgers interlocking LA. Many people don't notice how clever it is that the bottom of the L crosses the A. ” -jlaz10

“ Black and yellow, black and yellow, wait its white. ” -Dixxy

“ May be the most bland design ever. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I think John Travolta should play this guy in a movie, before he gets much older... ” -SaveDaKid

Set: 1980 Topps (Rate)

Card: #722 Jose Cruz

“ The first year I bought from Topps as a 15 year old card dealer. 60,000 1980 Topps cards coming to the house was pretty amazing back then. Broke them into sets and sold them for $11 to local customers. Of course, with 1978-81 Topps, you got a lot of double prints, which were basically worthless. Also, the last year of the Topps monopoly, until 2011, of course. ” -Dave Sosidka

“ One of my favorite baseball players, Jose was always exciting at the plate. Plus this is my favorite Astros uniform, great colors and number font. All in all this is a very nice card. ” -Gunny

“ Not bad looking card, but how did he fit that huge afro in that tiny helmet. Is this former Blue Jays outfeilder Jose Cruz Jr's dad? Kind of looks like him. ” -PDIZZLE

" One of my favorite old uniforms! " -Jason Culley

“ Not a bad design overall but would have been better without the position flag and fake signature. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ The great Tequila sunrise unis! I still think these are some of the best in MLB history. ” -jlaz10

“ Stirrups!! ” -Hollywood42

“ I have always appreciated these designs. Topps did the same for hockey. Simple and it always looks good. ” -Dixxy

Set: 1997 Pacific Prism Invincible - Light Blue (Rate)

Card: #50 Cecil Fielder

“ Considering it's purpose is to let light pass through it, there is no less appropriate word to associate with Cecil than "Prism". ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Cool looking design...probably looks even better in person! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Now I'm slipping into the Twilight Zone..." ” -jlaz10

“ Creepy ” -Hollywood42

“ What a NAME for BASEBALL!!! ” -Dixxy

“ Why, oh, why have two faces of the same guy...Or his that a relic patch of Cecil's actual face? Is this card 1 of 1? ” -SaveDaKid

“ That looks like one of those privacy fences behind him. ” -biggiofn7

“ Wooh! Double Babyfaced Shots of teenieboppers!!! ...I don't get Bball... ” -Dixxy

“ Back when they were a major league team ” -volbox

“ Two legendary players- Ryan "Slim" Whitman and Mark "The Animal" Skeels. ” -Dave Sosidka

“ ...Who???... ” -Mike67

“ Wouldn't it have been better of they each got a card, instead of having to share one? ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Are the Marlins the All Time leading team for producing cards of players never to be heard from again? ” -flcardtrader

“ This looks like a showdown at high noon. "This card ain't big enough for the both of us, Skeels." ” -Luckynumber78

“ Oh, the old Marlins teal caps! It's a shame they changed the scheme. ” -jlaz10

“ To quote the soup Nazi: "NEXT"!!! ” -NJDevils

“ My fire is unleashed due to my hatred of this card... Well, it's not quite that bad, but this still deserves a "What?" ” -Hollywood42

“ What's going on here? ” -jlaz10

“ Seems like an odd choice for an animated series...not a property that interests me but I'm glad to see another non-sports card chosen for Card of the Day. Maybe one day it'll be one of my own contributions... ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Umm. Yeah. No thanks. ” -koloth42

“ It is kind of hard to see the people through the creepy yellow fog (or fire) ” -Schnidyman

“ I didn't know Quasimoto played hockey ” -Schnidyman

“ That's the look you give as you realise that in 5 seconds you are going to eat puck and there's really nothing you can do about it ” -Dixxy

“ He looks like he just got caught on film doing something he wasn't supposed to! I really like this design UD used that year, the first time I ever saw it was the last time one came up as Card of the Day. Much better than the basketball design that I am well familiar with from that season. ” -Billy Kingsley

Set: 1976 SSPC (Rate)

Card: #119 Dan Spillner

“ Now this is a real close up. I like the side burns. ” -deporcoruña

“ They called this set "The Pure Set." A maverick endeavor done without MLB or MLBPA licensing, there is strong suspicion that these sets were still be printed 25-30 years later after the fact by dealers who had acquired the original plates. ” -Dave Sosidka

“ Yup, that's me. ” -NJDevils

“ What does SSPC stand for? I've never heard of this brand before. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ "No no no. I'm telling you it's right here. Not there. Here! Would you just bring the damn shovel over here and stop your pointless digging there? ... I'm just going to stare at you." ” -Dixxy

“ Wow very oddly framed picture on this card. Neither a portrait or a full action pose. Seems lost in the middle. I think I'll pass. ” -koloth42

“ Ah, the old panel-insert Padres cap. Interesting shape, though. ” -jlaz10

“ I took this photo of my dad... moments later Randy Jones, in the background, launched the ball right into his head...interrupting a little man loving, for just out of view to the left was Butch Metzger... ” -SaveDaKid
