Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

You guys should start a club

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Just got home to find a padded mailer, return address "Your Martian Up North, Lloydminster". Awesome assortment of cards, Canadian postage stamps, and a Stanley Cup quarter. Even a MEM card of Ryan Switzer! Thank you Darrell, aka Ranfordfan!!!

Not a Phillies fan but I enjoyed watching Williams pitch. Brought some excitement to the game. Living in south Jersey, I was "stuck" watching many Phillies games. This goes back to the days of Tony Taylor and Pancho Herrera.

I think I'm about an hour and a half away from Philly while in NJ and would reduce it by half for his time in Houston. I didn't hate him but was glad when he left the Astros.
