The "Top of Topps Football" Wall of Fameby cnangle - 59 cards (Last updated on Mar 11, 2019) |
On display is a card from my collection that I think best represents the set. For most years, that's the key rookie card. For the years I don't have the key rookie, it's probably a HOF Vikings player. However, there are a couple years where a card has some special interest to me, '77 Walter Payton for instance.
I'm sure I will end up changing some of these out as I continue to complete sets, at least I hope so.
31. 1987 Topps #207 Gary Zimmerman
I don't have the Jim Kelly rookie so I went with a rookie card from another HOFer. Zimmerman happens to be the only Viking HOFer to have a card this year. BTW....who is Gary Zimmerman?.....SKOL! |
32. 1988 Topps #157 Chris Doleman
Another RC for a Viking HOFer! The only other HOFer to have a RC this year is Kevin Greene. In case you didn't realize it, I'm a Vikings fan. SKOL!

33. 1989 Topps #45 Thurman Thomas
I really liked the Bills team of this era. As a Vikings fan I can relate to the Bills Super Bowl history. Dismal set of football cards though. '87 to '93 represent the Dark Ages of Topps football. |
35. 1991 Topps #349 Jeff George
Funny story....short version...I lost my '91 set. Yep, lost it.
|
36. 1992 Topps #300 Barry Sanders
This set reminds me of the '68 set. I like the design but the quality of the cardstock is terrible.
|
37. 1993 Topps #170 Jim Kelly
There are a couple RC's that I could have chosen from this year. Bettis and Bledsoe come to mind, but I don't like the look of the RC's for this set. It appears that the photos were taken during training camp. This set actually has decent photography and I think the Kelly card is a great example. |
38. 1994 Topps #1 Emmitt Smith
I like this design. Topps almost produced a great set this year. Other than Marshal Faulk, the rookie class isn't very strong this year. Not really a big deal, as this lets me put an Emmett on my wall. |
39. 1995 Topps #345 Brett Favre
If it wasn't for the gold foil, I would love this set. It is still an attractive set but I really don't like the gold foil and strange font of the name.

40. 1996 Topps #68 Warren Moon
This is one of my favorite Topps football sets of all time. I like everything about it.
