Set: 2002 Decipher Lord of the Rings CCG: The Two Towers (Rate)

Card: #4C248 Southron Bowman

“ I comprehend the words, I know all their meanings, but I still have no idea what this card is saying. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ The good news is once the COTD engine has successfully picked EVERY TCG or CCG Card I have added to the database, It will stop. The bad news is that we still have about 7000 more to go. ” -Dixxy

“ I don't remember this Bowman set. ” -switzr1

Set: 1888 Yum Yum Tobacco (N403) (Rate)

Card: #NNO Pat Deasley

“ One word to describe this card.... AMAZING!!! ” -carthage44

“ 1888...wow! This has to be the oldest card to come up as Card of the Day. It was issued 96 years before I was born...and less than 10 years after the hobby really began. (Generally recognized as beginning in 1879, at least in the US, from what I've gathered). I can't tell if this is a real photo or a very well done painting. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I did not realize pluralizing with an apostrophe-s dated back to the time of Robin Hood. ” -revnorb

“ Is this an actual N403? Amazing condition for a card that old. I'm wondering if the edges are cropped out... ” -suomibear8

“ Slick. Very sharp card. ” -koloth42

“ I still don't have any cards in my collection that are older than 1951. THIS card is great. Looks like it's in great shape too. Pardon me while I'm a little jealous for a few minutes here. ” -vrooomed

“ Should be a Member of the "Mustache Team" ? ” -BOBSCARDZ

“ I like how they wrote the team name over his jersey to make it look sown on. ” -jlaz10

“ Yum Yum! I wonder how long it takes to tie his jersey. ” -switzr1

Set: 1998 Pacific (Rate)

Card: #271 Chris Naeole

“ This is about the time when offensive lineman cards became extinct. Very sad. ” -carthage44

“ Well, it's certainly not all gunked up with bells and whistles, but it's not particularly memorable, either. I suppose if I was a kid and collected these I would probably still think they're kind of neat. ” -revnorb

“ The Saints tried to overcome their hard-to-see gold numbers with a thick black outline, but predominantly black numbers work better. ” -jlaz10

“ Foil name on a foil background. Can't even see it at all. Brilliant design. The photography is nice though. ” -switzr1

Set: 1994 Traks (Rate)

Card: #68 Loy Allen, Jr.

“ Loy Allen Jr. shocked the NASCAR world when he won the pole for the Daytona 500 as a rookie in 1994, the first person ever to do that, in the 45th running of NASCAR's most important race. Unfortunately for him, it would turn out to be his career highlight. 1994 would in fact turn out to be the only full season he would ever attempt, and he was out of the sport totally by 1998. Three other drivers- including in both 2013 and 2014- have since won the pole as a Rookie. None of the four, to date, have won a Cup race, and one of them won't as he's retired (1997 Mike Skinner) 1994 Traks was a decent set, but there were so many great sets in 1994 that it really doesn't stand out. 1994 is my favorite year for NASCAR cards. Series 1 had gold foil, while series 2 had silver. This card is from series 1 (#1-100) which is much more common than series 2. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ It's a racing card. Yawn. Sorry I know there are those who like them, but I am not one of them. ” -yokonashiwa

“ Mom, this man is scaring me... ” -revnorb

Set: 1981-82 Topps (Rate)

Card: #W78 Mark Landsberger

“ Looks like the scanned card is off center. A fairly common problem. I was quite surprised to see his name pop up in the checklist for one of the 2014-15 autograph sets from Panini. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ The world needs bench warmers too. ” -carthage44

“ Looks like he's on the Lakers bowling team. ” -Id8jlb8666

“ Excited! ... not ” -vrooomed

“ Back when teams had their own warmup top designs. The good ol' days. ” -jlaz10

Set: 1982 Topps (Rate)

Card: #400 Johnny Bench

“ The "hockey stick" design. Bench was a great player. ” -vrooomed

“ Nothing screams the 80's like light blue and brown stripes down the side of the card. ” -carthage44

“ A classic card from a great player! I remember pulling this card from a pack back in the day. :-) ” -cckeith

“ Cool. A base card of a HOFer. I like it. Big fan of this set too. This is also the last year he was a catcher. He's a 3B on 1983 Topps. ” -switzr1

“ Even though he played the majority of his career in a pullover jersey, it's hard to picture him without a button-up. ” -jlaz10

“ Bench got Benched. That is all. ” -Dixxy

“ Really don't know why they went with the hockey sticks on the left side. As for the back, blue and green? Rough on the eyes. ” -NJDevils

Set: 1993 Score (Rate)

Card: #95 Ivan Calderon

“ He was traded to the Red Sox in the off season, but they still are using an Expos' picture. Still good looking card. His picture on the back is definitely a 90's cliche for appearance. ” -yokonashiwa

“ If it looks cheap, a good bet it's Score. ” -carthage44

“ RIP Ivan Calderon. I remember number of times when I went to the Olympic Stadium to see the Expos play and he was on the team. ” -JimStaub

“ This set is way less colorful than the Score sets prior to this one. I collected a fair amount of Score cards, and one thing all the early sets had in common was a paragraph about the player below/by the stats, if there was room for it. ” -duaned99

“ Decent set, nice card. Wish the card number on the back was a slight bit bigger and easier to read, but if that's my only complaint, not too bad. ” -vrooomed

“ The Expos never looked better than their '80s racing stripes jerseys. These tried to be modern but didn't quite work. ” -jlaz10

“ R.I.P Ivan ” -grim25

“ Another AS-calibre career cut short by injuries, just as it was gaining steam. ” -DaClyde

“ Looked Ivan up on Wikipedia. I remembered that he had died. I didn't remember that he was murdered. Also, the Expos hats were way better when they were red, white, and blue than just blue. 1993 baseball cards in general are just very drab because of the uniforms and hats. Nothing drab about that picture on the back though! ” -switzr1

“ He looks like he is fleeing from the same disintegrator ray that blew all the letters so far apart... ” -revnorb

Set: 2004 Press Pass Dale Earnhardt The Legacy Victories (Rate)

Card: #31 Dale Earnhardt

“ This was an interesting set. Dale Earnhardt won 76 races in his career, and each one got a card in this set. He was unquestionably one of the best drivers ever, and when he was killed in an accident on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 (The sport's biggest race) it shook the NASCAR world with reverberations still felt today. The image of fellow driver Ken Schrader looking into the window and stumbling back while calling for safety workers, son Dale Earnhardt Jr. running towards the hospital (which is close to the track) and race winner, employee and friend Michael Waltrip collapsing in tears when told Dale had not survived while in victory lane, celebrating his first win in a career that began in 1985...those are images that anyone who saw them happen live will never forget. This set was issued in factory set form, it was later reissued as an insert in various Press Pass products smaller, with a gray border, with a vintage style card back and serially numbered to 875. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I wonder if Billy will have anything to say about this? Probably not. ” -NJdevils

“ Interesting how the shade of blue on his car is lighter than his suit. ” -jlaz10

“ The Intimidator. ” -vrooomed

Set: 1990 Pro Set (Rate)

Card: #385 Roger Craig

“ This card was uploaded on January 22, 2009. That has to be one of the first cards ever uploaded on this site. Very cool! ” -carthage44

“ Is the fact that the little rainbow's colors are upside down supposed to indicate a social SOS of some sort? ” -revnorb

“ Good thing the Giants were in San Francisco, too. I don't think he'd be able to manage a baseball team while Pro-Bowling in the NFL. ” -wax_house

“ Not a Niner fan but I used to love watching this guy play. First player to gain over 1000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. ” -Id8jlb8666

“ Loved the colors on this set and the in depth info on the reverse ” -SFC Temple

“ That sure is a kickin' visor. ” -jlaz10

“ The pro bowl is probably the worst event in major pro sports. Well, maybe the MLS all star game is worse. It's a toss up. ” -switzr1

Set: 1998-99 Upper Deck Century Legends (Rate)

Card: #1 Michael Jordan

“ Simply THE BEST! ” -carthage44

“ The Century Legends Baseball set is a nice set, didn't realize they did it for other sports as well. Interesting angle. Michael Jordan #1, nuff said. ” -CluelessJoe

“ These overhead shots, albeit very cool, make me dizzy! ” -vrooomed

“ This set highlights 49 of the top 50 players of the century as selected by The Sporting News newspaper. For some reason there was no card #6 produced. It also includes some players they predict will be superstars in the near future. It is a 1998-99 release, even though listed as 1999 only. It was the first set in the Legends line from Upper Deck, which ran on and off over the next half decade. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Makes me dizzy ” -NJDevils

“ I'm not really a fan of overhead action pictures. I'll take a portrait over this anyday. ” -jlaz10

“ From up high and it's... good for 2! MJ, best there were, best there is and best there ever will be. ” -JimStaub

“ It looks like an interesting hair design with the number on his head on the back of the card. ” -dsorek
